Only 1856 lists a value for Real Property: 320 acres, value $160.00. The note is that the land is on the Sabine. By 1857, no Real Property is listed or valued. He died between 1865 and 1870 in Wills Point, Van Zandt, TX.⁽³⁹⁷⁾ He served in the military Apr 5 1847 to Aug 8 1848 in Texas.⁽¹⁵⁰⁴⁾ Signed and served as a Private in Bell's Regiment, Texas Mounted Volunteers, with Capt. Johnson's Co. (1st Service). Mustered in at Cartwright Mill, Shelby county, TX. Mustered out at Kaufman Station, Texas.

At some time David R. served in Mexico, as his Bounty Land papers discuss his discharge at Monterey, Mexico He served in the military Aug 8 1848 to Dec 15 1848 in Texas.⁽¹⁵⁰⁵⁾ On muster out of Capt. Johnson's company, David signed and served as a Private in Bell's Regiment, Texas Mounted Volunteers, with Capt. Smith's Co. (2st Service). Mustered in at Kaufman Station.

It is believed that Bob fought through the Mexican War and freighted in the Civil War.

McCOY is shown with 25 acres valued at $100. This is the first time he is shown with Real Property. The grantor was John BLAIR. He was living in 1880 in , Van Zandt, TX.⁽¹⁵⁰⁸⁾ There is no record of Joe or Joseph McCOY on the tax rolls. In 1873, D.T. McCOY is found for the first time on the Van Zandt Tax Rolls. He would have been about 21. There does not seem to be a seperate person Joe McCOY. Nor is there any proof that Lucy BRIDGES married Joe AND David, and there is documentation to prove the marriage to David. Therefore, it is this researchers' believe that David T. McCOY was called Joe on the 1880 Census, and in the V.B. Mitchell Book, "GHOLSON and ALLIED FAMILIES". Parents: David Robert "Bob" MCCOY and Flora Ann GHOLSON.

She owned Garrard Homestead on 10 Oct 1891 in , Stephens, TX.⁽¹⁵¹⁷⁾ Document giving clear title, reads in part:

"I, J.S. Hogg, Governor of the State aforesaid...by these presents, Grant to Ellen GARRARD Apee of G.W.BORING, her heirs or assigns, Forever, One Hundred and Sixty (160) Acres of Land, situtated and described...Hereby relinquishing to here the said Ellen GARRARD Apee, and her heirs or assigns Forever, all the right and title in and to said Land, hertofore held and possessed by the said State, and I do hereby issue this Letter Patent for the same... She owned Land Purchase on 17 Oct 1891 in , Stephens, TX.⁽¹⁵¹⁸⁾ There are two "Obligation" documents whereby Ellen GARRARD agrees to purchase 2 parcels of land. October 17, 1891, Ellen agrees to pay the State of Texas $279.0425 to purchase Section 6 containing 143.1 acres in Stephens County. She also applys to purchase (and signs an Obligation), the NW part of Section 2, containing 122.9 acres for $239.65.

Both of these documents are rubber stamped: "LAND FORFEITED". There are notes on the file that for the Tax Year ending August 1, 1893, the 143.1 acres and the 122.9 acres were forfeited for "non-payment" of interest. She died on 6 May 1940 in Cottonwood, Yavapai, AZ.⁽³⁹⁷⁾ Parents: David Robert "Bob" MCCOY and Flora Ann GHOLSON.

In either case, the story is she asked him to leave. They never divorced.
